I established my architectural practice ‘Marianne Halmos Architect’ in 1998, after gaining 15 years of experience with a large firm of architects. I specialise in residential architecture, from new houses to alterations and additions.

I provide full architectural services, including interior design elements such as joinery and kitchen and bathroom fit-out. Mine is a unique personalised service in close collaboration with my clients, resulting in designs that are individual, each reflecting my clients’ needs and desires. My aim is to make the construction process not only hassle free but enjoyable and exciting. Design and strategic thinking is part of my entire process, starting from the first sketches through to 3D images, working drawings, and construction. The result is beautiful architecture that connects to its location/sense of place and captures your aspirations.

Small or large, I believe that every project is opportiunity for great design – bespoke buildings that are efficient, beautiful and unique.

I am based in North Sydney and Clovelly and many of my projects are in the Northern and Eastern Suburbs, but I have worked on homes as far afield as Canberra and Terrigal. I have had extensive dealings with many Councils, including Waverley, Woollahra, Randwick, North Sydney, Ku-ring-gai and Lane Cove amongst others.

I strongly believe in the importance of fine detailing, but also having a focus on sustainable architecture, with the use of energy efficient systems and materials, passive solar principles and the reduction of water usage.

In 2002 We did a major redesign of the front of our property putting in a pedestrian foyer, garaging for three cars, above that an enclosed swimming pool inside a glass conservatory, an inclinator and remodeling the front balcony. The work involved excavation, piling, drainage, concrete pours, garden beds, stone work, tiling, etc.

Almost twenty years on, we remain very happy with the outcome and receive compliments, even from strangers. Drive past and see for yourself.”
